my civic and latest build
so here is my civic, 99 ex coupe 5speed. got it from a dealership BONE stock clean title 3rd owner. i do maintenance religiously. so far, ive done oem si front grill and lip and wing (recently went wingless), ive gone through a few different wheels but the current wheels on it are discontinued Wedssport SA90. hand polished muffler and valve cover (valve cover needs to be redone). i keep the engine bay clean. oem CTR (civic type r) jdm shift boot, si seats, 4.3k hid bi xenon bulbs, red turn signals and interior lights
working on cars is what i got my degree in, also i love cars so i keep it clean. stock paint ive buffed it and i keep it waxed in the summer. after blowing up my integra street racing i decided to keep this car clean, no more racing and just go for audio. anyways, here is a picture of my last setup in the trunk. *also, stock speakers in the car exept i have shallow mount infinity referance speakers in front.
my RE audio se series 10's dual voice coils. 1500watts at 2 ohms, rockford power series 1500.1bd ported box, 2.95 cubic ft tuned to 40 hrz. reverse mounted.
now here is my latest project. adire brahma mk2 15!
custom box made from birch plywood, double baffle, 3.34 cubic ft airspace tuned to 35 hrz ported
now i have no trunk space
tinsels were slapping on the cone and one of them broke off
repaired it and glued felt on the cone to prevent slappinnn (looks like crap i know, the one on the left broke off too so i had to solder it back on as well)

Veryy nice, definitely get those stock speakers changed out for some new one lol but how come you went sub up port back? I'm not trying to knock on your build whatsover cause that box looks clean, I'm just curious cause most trunk cars that I've seen either do sub, port forward sealed off or sub, port facing rear.. Just wondering lol

Re: my civic and latest build
The reason i built the box sub up port back is the height in a civic is very limited for one, and the other is the trunk opening is very small as well and with the sub up port back it gives it a clean look and dont have to worry about the sub getting damages if anything were to need to be put into the trunk.

i wanted at least 3 cubic ft of airspace and this was the best design for how much height the inside of the trunk has.

Re: my civic and latest build
im looking to get one of thease newer model power series 1500.1bd so i can drop to 1ohm. the new power series are 1ohm stable. ive heard of people running 1ohm on the older models like i have but i dont think it can be too good for the amp, even with a protection curcit.
this amp msrp for about 1000 to 1200 but this is refurbished for 400 with the same waranty and this seller is an authorized rockford dealer!
it wont let me post the link though :p

Re: my civic and latest build
yeah dude! Its the constant power series. Delivers 25% more power then the BD versions. I cant remember what the exact numbers on the birth sheet but all i can remeber is at 1ohm it tested in the high 1500's and at 2ohms it was in the high 1400s. It thumps for a small amp. Makes my type r's move LOL.

Re: my civic and latest build
nope, not the older ones. they can run on 1ohm but they get real hot and go into protect. i would probably be fine since i run with my gain turned all the way down.. just dont want to risk it. pluss i want to upgrade. the older model that i have does 1000w at 4ohm 1500w at 2. of course its probably a little more then that.

Re: my civic and latest build
today i met up with stephen and he was able to tune my system. i was so surprised at how loud he could get it. i swear it looked like there was a gorilla in my trunk trying to bust out lol! then out of no where it just cut out. i took it apart and reconnected everything and it still wouldnt work (at first it sounded like it was trying to work). after testing the sub i found out the woofer was okay, after all the sub wasnt even warm and no smoke/smell. so it has to be my amp... which was bound to happen anyways because that thing is OLD. so now im on the look out for another amp. probelm is i dont have money lol
also think its the amp because when i hooked back up the pos and neg on it. usually whe i hook up the pos you see a little spark as you push it in... this time it didnt do anything. but after hearing how loud that thing got, i realllllly want to get it going again.

Re: my civic and latest build
just an update. i took everything apart and hooked it back up again. it started working again which made me happy. then it started cutting out so i smaked the amp a few times and now it works.... until you play it loud and after a while it turns off. sure enough its going into protect mode. and after about 10-15 min of listening to it loud, the cone gets a little warm and you can smell some nast from the port. its just time for a new amp, not worth fixing mine.

Re: my civic and latest build
I would look into a stinger volt meter to watch the voltage of the vehicle. It could be the amp is now causing the voltage to dip to low and the amp is going into protect from not enough voltage. Volt meter can be your best friend as you need power to make power.

Re: my civic and latest build
^^^This. You do not have the electrical to support the amp when the gain is turned up. That's why it happened after you tuned it. You need to at least put in a better or additional battery, and eventually upgrade that 80a alt. Test your voltage at the amp with it full tilt, let us know what it reads.bassmechanic253 wrote:I would look into a stinger volt meter to watch the voltage of the vehicle. Re: my civic and latest build

im going to run 0 gauge wire from the front to a battery in a back with an inline fuse at each battery. new battery with battery box. new amp, and new grounds.
then a new amp
