Re: Mrd6's Walled Isuzu Rodeo
Subs getting ready to go back into the box and car
Thought this was kind of a cool shot with the shadow behind it
Then back in the car the next day with some new dual inputs from John and project db, I was in a hurry to leave for oregon though so it looks like I forgot to take pictures after this point with the wires actually hooked up, ill try to get more up later.

Re: Mrd6's Walled Isuzu Rodeo
Originally I planned on adding a bit to the box to reduce the volume and raise the tuning a bit. But I remeasured the box specs and ran the numbers again and decided to leave it the same.
Currently it sits right at 13.25 cubes net. with 206sq inches of port area with tuning working out to be just above 29hz. I love how flat this plays and sounds as a daily ride. When I ran the numbers I could only raise the tuning to 31hz while still maintaining 12c cubes net. This seemed like it would be more likely to be a loss of output so i decided against it.
I do however plan to start a b-pillar rebuild over the winter after this season ends.
Anyways, after all of that work I made it to the show and couldnt seem to manage more than 149.3 at 40hz...haha to be honest, this pissed me off but my alt also wasnt charging so i was bupring from battery voltage with no alternator backup so I assumed that had to be it. Then with 10 seconds left on my last run I had a "oh! duh!" moment and realized I never checked to see if my peak had changed from 40hz. I quickly changed tracks and was able to find a 35hz tone in time to get one burp off, this was the result...
So i finally got my 150 sealed! and I am quite certain there are at least a few more tenths waiting to be found simply by testing and finding my true peak unless it turns out my random guess of 35hz was correct.
I was pumped about this and it was enough to get me third place at my first 3x show! I also got second out of 12 competitors in 139.9 bassracing trying it for the first time. That was fun, i will definitely be trying bassracing again when I can.

Thanks everyone! It took a lot longer than i thought, but I got it and learned so much along the way.
The best part about accomplishing my goal for this build is that l can start my rebuild for next season: musical 155 sealed on 7k here i come!

Congrats at Finals Mitchell!! You had some great numbers and gave some great demos even being on just battery power. Are you gonna do 4 18s b pillar? Or thinking of keeping just the two? XL's make nice bandpass woofers ;-)

Re: Mrd6's Walled Isuzu Rodeo
Thanks Ben! And Congrats to you too! Finals was a great time for sure.
My plan for the rebuild is to start by making a big ass bomb shelter shell, built up and sealed off at the b-pillar. I talked with Tanner a bit over the weekend about helping me weld up a steel shell for it
Then i am just going to build and rebuild inside that shell until I am happy. I have alot of different things I want to try out but the first, and probably for this next season I am sticking in Advanced 1 with the xls doing a big 6th order...by my estimates I should have about 30 cubes to work with

Time for a few updates...nothing new for you guys who were at finals but I might as well keep this up to date
The new Digital Designs ZSE Amp is a beast and I love it. Its already 1-2 dbs louder on just battery power than the sundown was on the same batts and a working alt

Re: Mrd6's Walled Isuzu Rodeo
So keep in mind my alt is dead so these numbers I am posting are with the car OFF! New DD ZSE running off of 1 xs d2700 and 2 xp3000s....
My previous best with the Sundown 3500 running on the same batteries and a mechman 220 was a 150.1 sealed up at 35hz.
This was done with the passenger window down on a 35hz tone.
Sealed up I was able to consistently do 151.4 from 33-35 hz but forgot to get any pictures
As soon as i get the alt fixed I am expecting to be able to do a 152 sealed easily and a 53-54 drivers window down.
I ended up placing 2nd in the IASCA West Coast Championship in Advanced 1 as well as 4th place in INAC Advanced 1 this past weekend.

Re: Mrd6's Walled Isuzu Rodeo
If you want some good info about 6th orders get in touch with Justin Henke, he seems pretty good at them. He had some input on my current enclosure

Thanks Ben, I talked with him a bit awhile back but he didn't remember too many of the details at the time. Hopefully I can get some input from him down the road when I get to actually implementing some of my designs
Edit: ^haha Luke, that one spec is what sold me on this amp

Hell yeah i bet, so efficient , one can only imagine what it will do at a constant 14.4 volts or 14 volts
