changeable port?
I remember seeing meatheads old box and it had a interchangeable port. I'm looking at doing that but with a areo port. I can make areo ports very well..... my prob is what would be the best way to do this without it leaking out? What do you guys think? I'm going to run a single 8" to 10" because I had tuning issue's with my current box running 2 ports......so its a single port but I need it interchangeable for running spl and norm......
Re: changeable port?
I've wanted to do the same thing. My thought was to make a wood ring that would mount to the flare of the port that you can recess. Not sure how to explain it any better...

If you use those hurricane nuts it would make for quick and easy exchanges. just make sure the side of the box is doubled so the ring is flush mounted.

I don't think it would work very well to have interchangeable ports, but would be much easier to just be able to add length to the port. Tune it high for spl, then have a little bit of the port sticking out of the box, put your flare on and when you want a lower tuning take the flare off then extend the port-put the flare back on.

But IIRC you don't really have much room to work with in your trunk.. so that may not be an option.

Re: changeable port?
If you do a port that slides into its self its leaking air out the port and it wont be tuned to a exact Hrtz it could screw with your score......... I need to be able to bolt it to the box and change them when I burp......I'm just not shure how I'm going to do it.... I've never messed with a changeable port..... so I'm clueless as to what bolts seals extra. I should use....I know it can be done but how?
Re: changeable port?
I'm not talking about sliding ports.
Was thinking something like this. See how he has a lip for the flare to hold on to outside the box? Do that, but don't glue the flare on, have another piece of pipe to put in between the lip and flare to extend the port and lower the tuning.
