Camera for flex vids
What is a good little camera for doing flex vids? What have you used or what do you use? I'm about to buy one very soon.

Re: Camera for flex vids
Theres a Canon camera that's good for flex vids. The Zi8 was popular. 60 fps on 720hd. Twistedchild420 used one for a while. They quit making that one. Current model is playtouch or touchpro something like that. Can be had for about $100-150 on Amazon. I've had my eyes on them for a while. Otherwise twisteds new camera seems badass. If you haven't seen his vids search that name on YouTube. He's hilarious.

Thanks, yeah I have seen a couple of his vids. I'm impatient so I picked one up already. Got a used Kodak Zi8 for $65 with some extras. Hopefully I will have something to test it on soon.

I don't have any system in at the moment. I will once I get something built. I have 720p on my mytouch 4g but the frame rate must suck cause I don't like the vids. Plus it doesn't have stabilization like the Zi8stephen_og wrote:Well I have an upgrade in may, and ill probably get an iphone and the camera and video camera on the 4s is pretty damn good.. Re: Camera for flex vids
I believe its 60fps @720p and 30fps @ 1080p. Usually it looks more like jello with a slow frame rate if I remember right. We can do a comparison though sometime after you get the iPhone 4

Re: Camera for flex vids
Not sure if its relevant, but Kodak just filed for bankruptcy.
If 60fps is a good speed, then I gotta go try my GoPro in an abandoned parking lot.

Re: Camera for flex vids
From the reviews I read, the go pro HD, flip HD, iPhone 4, and Zi8 are all very close in picture quality.
go pro- pros: good film quality, very rugged. Cons: no preview, harder to use, no external mic.
Flip hd-pros: Good looks, easy to use, can take regular batteries, good film quality. Cons: small internal memory, if damaged you lose your footage, no external mic.
Iphone 4- Pros: convenient, good film quality, easy to share vids. Cons: internal memory, sometimes it can be inconvenient to have all in one if you need your phone to be a phone,
no external mic
Kodak Zi8 - pros: good film quality, external mic, easy to learn, up to 32gb sdhc. Cons: still pictures suck, battery life is kinda short
This is just off the top of my head from reviews I read. I'm sure any of these would take good vids. The go pro is a little more expensive than the Kodak and flip HD if I remember right, And the iPhone is the most expensive, but if you already use one, at least you know its about as good as these.
As mentioned Kodak is out of business so the Zi8 is only available used or online, but I found one with 3 batteries, HDMI cable, SD card, bag and regular plugins for only $65 on CL so they can be a good deal IMO.

Looks nice. Kind of expensive for what I need it for though. Great for ski vids, mountain biking, or things like that. I read that these can really take a beating.
