Looking for a pair of 12's in the near future
So I am looking to use the box I had built for my Skar 12's since I still have it and love the way it turned out. The box is 1.5 per side and tuned to the low 30's. So my question is what are some good options for my next pair of subs. I don't really have a budget at the moment, but I am also not ready to buy right now. I want to see what is going to fit my box and than save up for them. I am looking for a pair for a daily ground pounder. Please offer up suggestions.... If you are a dealer feel free to PM me some prices so I know what to expect. I am always looking to try new brands and have a few in mind that I haven't messed with yet like IA, DC, and DD but please don't let these choices keep you from offering suggestions, just don't turn this into a hate feast for on brand or another....

Re: Looking for a pair of 12's in the near future
what kind of power are you going to be sending to them? There coming out with there new m2 line and they have all new power handling for them.. but if your in the 2 to 3k range I would suggest the lv3 or lv4.. the lv3s would be around what the skars would be. If you have any DC questions about any of there products, John or meathead on this forum would be able to go more in depth on the subject then I could, hes are area rep.

Need to know the power you will have running to the pair. I get parts this week to start building some custom 12's. They will have a Memphis mojo motor, sundown nightshade coils, sundown z v.3 spiders and cone. They would be in the 2k rms+ range. Don't know your power, so not sure if they would fit your application.

Yeah, with 1500rms or less (after rise) to the pair, I would look into budget subs from any of the brands you mentioned. I think the DC and SA 12's like that space, not sure about the others.

Re: Looking for a pair of 12's in the near future
Yeah SA 12s would work really good with that power and now that I know that amp the DC lv3 would work well with that as well.. Might be under powering them a little cause from what I'm hearing with the new m2 line the lv3s will take 1000 watts clean power all day. But none the less the SA's or the lv3s will take 1.5-2k on clean power. also those are the two off the top of my head that recommend around 1.5 cubes. You might get down to 1.1 to 1.3 after displacemnt but at the same time that's the range they like to be in

Re: Looking for a pair of 12's in the near future
I will make a build log in the subwoofer section when I build these up. These will be my first from scratch build, not just drop in cones so it will take a little more time. I want to see them built and test them on my 3k before I put a price on them. I'm sure you would want a 3k or more on a pair though to see full performance. They will be built as dual 1 ohm.Topdawg wrote:RRR37 wrote:Yeah, with 1500rms or less (after rise) to the pair, I would look into budget subs from any of the brands you mentioned. I will also try to get a video of them playing. Going to build a box at 1.5 and 32hz for testing them.

Re: Looking for a pair of 12's in the near future
If it helps any the sa12 is 600 Watts. You could run 2 of them and still be overpowering them but in a smaller box you would probably be OK. The z v3 is 1500rms and the nightshades v2 are 2k rms.
Re: Looking for a pair of 12's in the near future
Ok so lvl 3's are on my list.... Anyone think IA or AB might be worth looking at?

If you're looking at DD. A pair of 1500's would be pretty wicked with that power. I'd call DD and ask if you have any dealer's in the Boise area if you're from Nampa. They're website doesn't always show the smaller dealers. From their locator Streamline Audio is one of your closest dealers, being in the Portland OR area lol.
I'm running a pair of 1508's in my subaru @ about 1200wrms and have been quite pleased with them.

Yes there is a local DD dealer in boise, I talk to him all the time and have gotten a few quotes from him for the 2500's and 3500's, just not the 1500's.
