I am currently building a box for a JL Audio 13W7 and was wondering since i am building it with particle board should a 3/4 17.5" X 25" sheet be enough to hold 52 LBS or should i double up the faceplate?

Why particle board? I can understand if you don't want to pay the price of mdf but some correct me if I'm wrong but isn't birch a little bit cheaper? But whatever you do, I would add a second baffle. More strength, especially if you have a 52 lb woofer. If you want some really good experienced help on boxes, pm mike (bama) is his name on here, he can help you more. Look in the introduce your self section he should have a post and you can pm him

I used it because it's for a guy at a pawn shop and he doesn't know the difference and my dad bought a bunch so I'm just using what's left over. I would have rather used MDF but the funds are a little low...

I can understand that.. Well in this case, if I were doing it I would have a double baffle then brace the shit out of it. Wooden dowels, 2x2s, metal rods whatever you think is neccesary and go from there. And resin the inside if you can, but that's just from seeing what I have learned ona number of forums, not but experience, ill let you know that now. Hell take a trip to your lowes or home depot and just look to see if you can find some better stuff for a cheap price, or ask them if you could take there scraps if they have any. Just my two cents

Particle board will work make sure to brace as much as you can. have L shaped port helps bracing a ton as well. 2 round dowels should be fine. its only a single w7. I would deff put a 1.5" baffle for the face of the box. And for the guy suggesting something about birch it is half the weight stronger and about 12 dollars MORE per sheet.
